Happy New Year! What's everyone's New Year's Theme for 2014? Mine is dedication to my education and getting in shape.

As a life long learner and incurable infophile, I think it is indeed important to commit a chunk of our time to continuous personal self development.
I've noticed the many Open Courses that are now available on-line- many from some of the best universities.

Having said that, a couple days ago my son told me that he had signed up for a course from Harvard University. They are offering- 100% free, their highly acclaimed "Introduction to Computer Science."
A certificate of completion in this course would be a great addition to anyone's CV and a great tool regardless of one's course of study (except yunz guys that are already into CS.)
You can see what it's all about here:

And yeah, I know I'm preaching to the choir with this erudite bunch!

And a very Happy New Year to all of you, too!

MOOCs rule! If I had the time I'd have signed up for this one on Complex Systems from the Santa Fe Institute that starts today. If anyone decides to sign up and attend a MOOC this year, please do share your experiences with us if you can, i'd love to hear if they are effective learning methods or not. Thanks and Happy New Year to all once again!
