A list of AiG's heroes, (Martin Luther et al) for reference.

Postby the_ignored » Sat Nov 18, 2017 12:22 am

The URLs that I am posting here are all from where I had stored them on "web archive dot org" site, just in case AiG ever gets wind of how foul these people are, and take them off of their page. You can, as of this posting, take the core addresses and still find them on AiG's site. Let me know if any of these links don't work, just in case.

I may use this later, so I'm stored this here as well as on a flash drive at home. I will, when I'm not so bone-idle, show here just why those people that AiG admires are actually scum-bags, so we can all use this for future reference:

Yes, Martin Luther has a lot to answer for. Although he was certainly spot on in his criticism of the Catholic Church, and was tolerant of Jews as a young man, he became embittered when Jews didn't flock to him and wrote and preached (his last sermon was on the badness of the Jews) all that nasty stuff about them. But, unlike Hitler, he didn't advocate killing Jews- just burning their synagogues and homes. Credit where credit is due.

Of course they deify Calvin, they are Calvinists.

Actually, it looks like he did advocate killing them:

reynold- unfortunately, that link of yours doesn't say where this quote is from- I'd like to see the original, because I've read most of On the Jews and their Lies and don't remember it. Luther advocates enslaving, driving out, and keeping Jews in cages, etc, but not killing them outright, iirc.

I also found this in an analysis of Luther's antisemitism: Immerhin wird bei diesen schrecklichen Forderungen an keiner Stelle dazu aufgefordert, Juden zu töten. "All the same, nowhere among these monstrous demands is the demand to kill Jews"

Huh. Damn good point. I thumbed around a bit more, and got to a site that purports to just have the various versions (text, kindle, etc) of Luther's book available for download here but I can't find that exact quote which that other book had. I did however, find this:

It is not otherwise than we have quoted from
Moses, that God has struck them with insane blind-
ness and a raving heart, thus it is our fault that we do
not avenge the innocent blood which they shed on our
Lord
, and the Christians, for three hundred years after
the destruction of Jerusalem, and from that time on
children (which still shines from their eyes and skin).
That we do not slay them, but for all their murder,
cursing, blaspheming, and disgracing, permit them to

dwell among us
without charge, protect their schools,
houses, body and goods, by which we make them lazy
and secure and help them confidently to squeeze
from us our money and goods, and in addition to
mock us and spit on us, hoping finally to overcome us
and slay all of us for such great sin and take away all
of our goods, as they daily pray for.

That psychotic prick and his run-on sentences, I just randomly quit the bolding.

I haven't been able to find that spot in the German text, but the translation sounds plausible. By saying "we should have killed them back then" Luther gets as close as possible to saying "we should kill them now" without actually saying it. I wouldn't be surprised if this was calculated- Luther had a pretty good legal mind.

But psychotic- hard to argue with that. Let's say that he had some issues. Somewhere he also says he can tell if a woman is a witch, based on how ugly she is. Not a nice guy.
